First update of 2013…
Since getting back from Finland at the end of November after our great AppCampus trip, we’ve been working to develop Foundbite and get it ready to release for Windows Phone 8.
With such a big project and so many ideas we’ve nailed down a reduced feature list so that can get Foundbite out into user’s hands as quickly as possible and learn just how people are going to be using it (we have a vague idea but I’m sure we’ll be surprised). From that we can decide what features to build next and where we can improve. There’s a lot more in the works but at the very least you’ll be able to capture a foundbite (an image or a series of images accompanied with the ambient sound as the photo was taken), view other people’s on an interactive map of the world and share your own and others through social networks like Twitter and Facebook. When you share to these networks you’ll share a URL and your friends will be able to view your foundbite (much like how Instagram works) - its a great way for us to spread the word about Foundbite and to share your experiences with people even if they don’t have a Windows Phone! Win Win!
Given the features we are putting in, a lot of work is going into making a solid and scaleable back end to run the app in the cloud (on Windows Azure), a responsive website and having a great UI that’s easy to use and makes the most of Windows Phone’s Metro Modern styling (dont panic - the one above is just a bare bones mock-up).
We’re aiming to launch in February/March time, hopefully having launched the website with a few trial Foundbites online for your viewing pleasure a few weeks before! We’ll keep you posted!

Ok, there’s now quite a lot of snow in Helsinki now and it’s drifting like crazy and blowing into strange shapes.
Flight this evening back to the UK, been a great month!
Finally, snow in Helsinki. About time….
It’s our last full day here, heading home tomorrow evening - hopefully avoiding the snow storm that’s coming.
A sauna-style meeting room - what everyone needs in Finland…
